FINDS, an acronym for Finland, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden could just as easily stand for fantastically innovative, and naughtily delicious Scandinavia, yet whatever its true meaning there is no doubt that this Nordic collective is one of the coolest spots in Hong Kong.

Inspired by the icy-cold winters of Scandinavia, FINDS's interior is totally refeshing-as unique as a snowflake. The lift door opens onto the bar and restaurant and you're immediately struck by an expanse of tiny lights, glistening white surfaces and a huge turquoise banquette jutting from the slate floor like an iceberg.

Dominating this startling space, an enormous, sparkling chandelier cascades towards the floor. Along one side, bartenders serve Aquavit and Koskenkorva from behind a smooth, curved bar. For those inclined celebrity cocktails such as a Greta Garbo or an Ingmar Bergman are also mixed on demand. At the end of the restaurant an unusually large terrace looks out across the bustling Lan Kwai Fong area. Unlike its frosty design, FINDS has a warm and lively atmosphere. In true Scandinavian form, behind the image conscious façade is a down to earth and friendly charm that has not gone unnoticed in Hong Kong. Lunchtime is buzzing with businessmen rushing in and out, those with longer to spare recline in the sunshine on the terrace and crowds celebrate with another shot of vodka. At night time the lively restaurant slips into a late night bar and lounge where, until the early hours, cocktails and champagne cater to a sophisticated set of locals, expats and tourists.

While David Buffery has created a dazzling arctic summer with his interior design, Chef Jaakko Sorsa adds the Northern Lights with his truly innovative cuisine. Their scapas-Scandinavian tapas-provides the perfect bar snack.

The Smoked Salmon Mousse is a superb accompaniment to a Cucumber Martini, while some Finnish Meatballs can be washed down with a shot of Stoli. The main dining menu combines regular favourites such as Buckwheat Blinis with Lavaret Roe and Sour Cream with more unusual dishes including Tender Venison with a Blackcurrant Sauce. Importing seasonal fresh food a comforting Wild Mushroom Broth with Poached Eggs and Ham is a great winter warmer while the tangy Lemon Gravalax with Potato Salad and Artichoke Crème Brûlée with Potato Pancakes are deliciously light and certainly call for a chilled glass of white on the terrace. The presentation is impeccable and in such a stunning environment, the dishes live up to this wonderfully creative flair. But overall, it's the fun, cheeky character behind the hautedesign that makes FINDS a real find. Kippis!
